Fusion vibes

August 13, 2016

Hola Girls,

Let’s talk about fusion today. Fusion is basically the combination of Western and Indian fashion.  When it comes to weddings and social occasions where we need to dress up all desi, we all are inclined towards Indo-western clothing. Be it music, food, dance or fashion, fusion is an idea that is being bandied about. Fusion wear or Indo-Western wear is catching up.

This explanation broadens the scope of what `fusion wear’ means. Fusion wear is not just restricted to short kurtis combined with trousers, but also Indian textiles and embroideries adapted to Western silhouettes and shapes, for instance capris, shirts, skirts and even trousers. Indian garments such as the versatile short kurti, which can be teamed with denims, skirts, salwar and capris have an international appeal.

Remember Enrique Iglesias’s  music video ESCAPE , which had him sporting embroidered kurta?

About my look , I have tried to create two basic fusion looks.  First one has the plain basic t-shirt from Forever 21 with a koti jacket brought from Choki Dhani Rajasthan paired with a tribal shorts from Reliance Trends. To complete the look have accessorised it with a handmade necklace, earrings and tribal sandals. The Rajasthani clutch bag is a gift from my sister 🙂

The second look is keeping the same plain t-shirt with a lehnga I got made from Lokhandwala complex Mumbai. The accessories are again the same with the golden stilettos from Metro.

Fusion wear these days not just restricted to kurti/salwar. Shirts and skirts made in indian textile have huge demand overseas. A combination of east and west is what I call fusion wear.

Style tips on fusion wear –

  • Kurti paired with jeans or shorts.
  • Ganji paired with skirts/ghagra and wear dupatta as a stole
  • Ditching the salwar with trousers
  • Wear the ghagra as a tube dress , try it its fun 😉
  • Nehru jacket paired with the jeans
  • Replace the sari blouse with a shirt or a jacket
  • Drape the dupatta as a skirt or top on jeans/shorts
  • Just don’t go overboard with too many things in one look

So make your own fusion look with these simple tips and do share the pics with your look 🙂
